The founding vision
A note on why we built this.
India's temples are among the oldest continuously-run institutions on earth. They feed people, employ priests and artisans, keep languages and rituals alive, and hold the trust of millions of devotees. And yet, when it came to software, they were being handed a raw deal — asked to give up a cut of their offerings and the relationship with their own devotees, just to have a booking page.
We didn't think that was right. So we set out to build the opposite: a platform where the temple is the customer, not the supply. Where it keeps 100% of its offerings, its devotees, its brand, and its data — and we make our living from software and reach, never from a tax on faith.
Our promise is simple and, admittedly, ambitious: make every devotee a VIP by 2028 — at no cost — and uplift every temple in India along the way. A grandmother in a small town should get the same dignified darshan experience as anyone else. A temple with three staff should have the same tools as one with three hundred.
We can attempt this because we're not starting from zero. BookMyMandir is built by the team behind xalen.io and vedika.io — a faith-technology and engineering estate we've spent years building, now turned toward the temples themselves. The panchang engine, the secure infrastructure, the tools for pandits — much of it already exists. What's new is pointing all of it at a single, stubborn goal: serving faith without extracting from it.
