📖 About Trimbakeshwar Temple
Trimbakeshwar Temple is unique as its lingam has three faces representing Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. Located at the source of the Godavari River near Brahmagiri mountain, it is one of the four places where Kumbh Mela is held (Simhastha Kumbh).
🏢 History & Legend
The temple was built by Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao in the 18th century using black stone. The site has ancient significance as the origin point of Godavari River from Brahmagiri hill.
Temple Architecture
Built in black basalt stone in Hemadpanthi style. The temple has intricate carvings and a large courtyard. The unique lingam with three visible faces is housed in a depression in the ground and is always covered with a silver mask.
